Artist Statement

I MAKE FLOWERS
There are no traditional principles I follow when constructing my pieces. My primary medium is clay. Destruction, beauty in destruction, how beauty hides the destruction, how beauty can still live in destruction, how beauty and life survives destruction, are reoccurring themes I work with. There is little preparation I have for each piece. I do not plan my work. I construct multiple random pieces of clay (tear them apart, throw them, scrape them), then I reattach and create from there. Some sculptures are small, some large, but all are heavy. I mainly make flowers and portraits.
