Los Angeles Art Association is pleased to announce the opening of Floating Worlds opening at Gallery 825 on January 18 from 6-9pm (runs through January 31, 2020). Juried by Juri Koll, Venice Institute of Contemporary Art.
While "floating worlds" is a phrase art historically connected to Ukiyo-e art from Japan from around 1630 - the mid 1800s, in the context of this exhibit, this will refer to the major changes happening in the world we live in - the fleeting, floating nature of life - and the way artists depict this challenge. Indeed, the period when this phrase was used in Japan was one of tremendous upheaval, and our exhibition coincides with this fact of life. Whether sublime or active, contemplative or extroverted, this exhibition speaks to our times directly. Floating Worlds is an all media exhibit at Gallery 825 that explores this concept.
Floating Worlds features artists Lillian Abel, Julie Ascher, Dori Atlantis, Maria Bjorkdahl, Warren Casey, Fred Chuang, Bibi Davidson, L.
