Artist Statement
I am a psychotherapist, artist and meditation teacher each of these professions engage awareness, as viewing and creating art is mindful.
Personal aesthetics permit time to notice thoughts and emotions that are accepting or critical.
Art celebrates the individual and society as viewer or creator and the natural capacity of the mind to be to be flexible.
My photos depict the perfectly imperfect . I choose places , objects and messages to accept things as they are and see the beauty in what is.
The Graffiti series demonstrates anonymous acts of civil disobedience signs of lives lived and provocative assertions of humanity. Graffiti thrives with endless pollination across the globe from hieroglyphics to Kilroy was here.. ad infinitum even in the digital age.I choose to document this random imagery as deliberate public exclamations of the self yearning to be seen and heard.
