Artist Statement
Richard’s preoccupation with the phenomenon of light has been a defining influence on every aspect of his work. Wielding light and pigment, his richly luminescent images investigate the boundaries of photographic abstraction through a hybrid of painting and photography.
Richard Slechta finds purpose investigating the fleeting nature of those things we hold most precious. Through this attention, he finds inspiration creating artwork that are charged with vibrant energy, that is assertive, aggressive, yet optimistically balanced.
Richard is a Los Angeles based artist and a graduate of School of Visual Arts, New York. His work has been exhibited across the country and resides in permanent collections including, the Museum of Arts & Sciences.
