Artist Statement
These are American paintings. Because they’re about virtue, they’re about vice. Because they’re about America, they relate to the world.
Because they’re about patriarchy, ecocide, wealth inequality, the balancing act of geopolitics, and our history of genocide and colonization, they’re about the New Left: the cry for leadership, the failure of ‘virtue signaling.’
Because they’re about language, they’re about meaning. Because they’re about meaning, they point to the Tao.
And I’ve drawn somewhat classically Taoist, rather than postmodern, conclusions about the limitations of language and the meaninglessness of words.
