Artist Statement

My art is driven by diverse aspects of my personality: chaos, order, intuition,

impulsive, reluctant, confident, shy, bold, simple, complicated, viewing the world up-close and from afar. Most of my art involves my love of photography, color, shape (both organic and geometric) as well as my interest in all things Los Angeles, architecture, travel, nature and, most recently, political themes are showing up in my artwork.

My digital art begins with my "straight" photography and as I begin to play, some form of magic occurs between me and my computer! Neither could do it without the other and duplicating a work is totally impossible because each piece is a magical, intuitive event. My digital art is sometimes abstract or often recognizable in form with elements of surprise (color, shape, texture, etc. I keep playing until I come up with something I like. The beauty of working digitally is that I can make an infinite number of art pieces out of a single photograph. Many of my digital art pieces involve the use of many photographs to create digital collages.

In addition to digital art and collage, I work in analog collage, watercolor, acrylics, mixed media, digital painting, encaustic monotypes and ink. As with all my art, all work is strictly unplanned and intuitive.
