Artist Statement
I am a mixed media artist interested in installations that use modules and patterns. I am drawn to different shapes that have the potential to create an interesting visual line, one that causes the viewers’ eyes to move with it as they observe the creation. I like taking things others would discard, simple materials, and combining them in a way that results in something larger and more complex. I am particularly interested in how these objects can relate to a wall in a visually interesting manner.
I often create with found materials and things I can recycle, like wood, old paper, and books. The overarching goal with my art is to create something new and unexpected from something old, thereby giving life to the found object in a fresh way.
