Karen Frimkess Wolff
Artist Statement
The ephemeral nature of particular lives set into the ground and framework of landscape has been a primary interest and theme of my drawings, constructions and installations. I take images and materials at face value and for their symbolic value. Drawing is my way of thinking so I make drawings about everything that concerns me. In my installations I turn my drawings into interactive experiences. I am always looking at relationships between things and thoughts, inquiring into my veneration and awe of natural processes and phenomena. I want to notice carefully, to be grateful for beauty, to balance nature, artifice and my human contrivance.
