Artist Statement
I paint because I love the quality of the paint itself. The flow and physicality of the paint is important to me, and I work in a gestural style, often using my hands directly on the canvas. This imparts a sensuous quality of touch to the work. I think of the paint as a metaphor for skin and bone, and the paintings often have that contrast of soft and hard. I like to create a subtle seduction with paint and canvas.
