Artist Statement
My work primarily focuses on the theme of happiness. I strive to paint people and animals in a way that celebrates their unique personalities and inner joy. My work is modern, impressionist, and colorful; I like to play with dream-like imagery, imaginary jungles and living creatures of all kinds. I also paint landscapes with the intent to draw the viewer in and provide them a sense of peace. I mostly work with oils, but I also experiment with acrylics and collage. I take inspiration from both Rousseau and Picasso in terms of their subject matter and their senses of humor.
Examples of my work include: a painting of my cat inside a bar I used to frequent in New York; my husband on vacation in Greece; and a collage I that created using leaves I picked up during a walk around Los Angeles. These various images are all part of my daily, lived experience—I hope the viewer enjoys them.
