Feiran Wang
Artist Statement
Feiran Wang holds herself fortunate on account of once having one of those godly creatures, living in a coop of her grandparents’ remote suburban home in her not so remote childhood. The chicken, with an underdeveloped third leg, was destined to become the ontological precursor of her artistic essence and later the centerpiece of her artistic opus. Wang was born in HuangShan, China. She currently lives and works in California. Coming from a family of architects, Wang came to United States to study for her master’s degree in architecture design. She won the thesis merit prize for designing her grandparents’ house based on forms and textures of mutated chickens. Since receiving her master’s degree, she has been fully dedicated to fine art in the contemporary art scene of mutated chicken. Working on various mediums including paintings, sculptures, prints and digital, Wang applies mutated chicken to every subject she is interested in. With the assistance of advanced computer technology and various software, made of contemporary materials with industrial process, Wang’s artwork of mutated chicken manifests childishness and happiness.
