Artist Statement
Erin's paintings explore the cyclical nature of history. She's interested in how mythology and narrative influence the interior landscape of culture, most especially the culture of California. She works in a small scale and uses silver point and egg tempera to create images that often reference the art-historical canon of both East and West.
Erin lives in Southern California. She is an award-winning Author/Illustrator whose clientele includes top trade publishers and national magazines. She studied art history at the University of Iowa and the University of Hull in England and completed internships at several locations including Christie's in San Francisco and Hurst Gallery in Cambridge, MA. She began studying egg tempera through the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and continued in workshops with Master Painter of the Copley Society, Koo Schadler. Erin's work has been shown at the Riverside Art Museum and in shows throughout California.
