Dori Atlantis
Artist Statement
Dori Atlantis grew up in both Los Angeles and the rural mountains of Central California. She was a founding member of the Feminist Art Program under Judy Chicago at California State University, Fresno. She received her BFA and MFA from California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California.
Atlantis works in mixed-media painting, installation, sculpture, and photography. She has exhibited in Europe and throughout the United States. Recent shows include a collaborative art installation in We Are Here at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; mixed media sculptures in The Next Big Thing at Studio Channel Islands, Camarillo, CA; photographs in Why Not Judy Chicago in both CAPC, Bordeaux, France & Azkuna Zentroa, Bilbao, Spain.
“I Tried Everything” 1972, a collaborative installation by Dori Atlantis, Suzanne Lacy, Jan Martin and Nancy Youdelman was bought by MOMA, Museum of Modern Art, New York for their permanent collection.
