Artist Statement
I have long been interested in our relationship as humans to our environment. That relationship varies from urban to rural areas and in different cultures. In rural areas, there is an abundance of dirt. In cities, there is an abundance of concrete, a separation.
In my work, I use line, symmetry, and high contrast to explore the disconnections and connections in nature, beyond the landscape. I examine our relationship to the soil, water, and air. The lines echo the human need for symmetry, control and connection.
