Artist Statement
I paint the lives of children in moments where character and identity are forming quietly beneath the surface. My three daughters are often the muses that inspire me. In these honest reflections on girlhood, the paintings reveal strong and dignified women-to-be who grapple with their world through the serious work of imaginative play. I contemplate their safety and interaction with their surroundings as they pause to look out from magical moments or quiet introspection. Home interiors, fiery valleys, or muddy shorelines are some of the places where I document these young and future citizens of our planet and society. Each work invites viewers into a multilayered narrative that extends beyond the canvas.
