Artist Statement
I am influenced by Korean paintings in 1960's. The process of painting was very hard because there is no right kind of tool to do it. After applying multiple layers of acrylic to the canvas, I drew a grid on the reverse and alternately rolls, compresses, and scores the canvas in order to crack the painted line, thereafter using a sharp tool to further chip away at the surface. Then I filled in areas with different types of media.
