Carolyn Kramer
Artist Statement
As a contemporary artist, I wish to extend a sense of peace & spaciousness to viewers, as expressed in textured, nuanced canvases & drawings.
Raised in the Pennsylvania countryside, close to nature & living near beaches & mountains of Vancouver, BC, Canada & Los Angeles, CA; I observed earth’s formations, a thematic influence in my work.
Microscopic patterns in tide marks, colors of sea grasses & land strata inspire my art work, as I expand earth’s images 1000% onto canvases & paper. Using mediums of chalk pastel, oil encaustic, acrylic paint & gold leaf; artworks are rich with painterly textures, layers of color on color & whimsical washes.
I graduated from Otis College of Art & Design, Los Angeles, CA, Fine Art, Post Grad and Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, B.Sc. Art Education.
Recent awards, include Westlake Village Artist’s Guild, Juried Group Show, 2nd Prize, Mixed Media, Westlake, CA, 2019 and the American Heritage Committee, NSDAR, Women in the Arts Recognition Award, 2015.
For over 40 years, I have participated in numerous curated and juried art exhibits, my artwork can be found in private & corporate collections in US & Canada.
My fine art has been described as inspiring & spiritual with a common thread of whimsy & rich textures.
