Spider Plant Blues

The Times They Are A-Changing

And Trees

Artist Statement

At heart I’m an experimental artist: “What will happen if…?” I work in acrylic, watercolor, encaustic, mixed media, and digital photography at all levels of abstraction. Content, if any, usually relates to architecture and landscapes, particularly trees. I love to explore phone and computer apps – digital creation and manipulation of images provide hours of joy playing with my tens of thousands of images. These images may stand alone or be incorporated into photoencaustic or mixed media work.
Ideas come from everywhere: I might be in my studio looking at my ridiculously vast array of supplies and just start using them. Sometimes looking at art triggers an idea that begs to be explored. And often the ideas just come…as I’m falling asleep, walking down a street, in a forest, or reading a book.
I make art because the process feels so good and the anticipation of the outcome is exhilarating. My favorite works include a bit of whimsy, a touch of the incongruous, some ambiguity and, perhaps, a measure of beauty.Payment
