Artist Statement

I am interested in the transitory, random, reshuffling of associations, cultural markers or political unions. Connections and associations, whether cultivated or transient, personal or peripheral, or physical or ephemeral all help determine both individual and collective identity. That identity can be conscious and chosen as well as subconscious and externally determined. The work explores the complexity as well as subtlety of how we define “self” both individually and nationally as it shifts over time and from singular moment to moment.
